Two Oceans Aquarium

This is Cape Town’s tourist gem, and it’s at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. It’s called “The Two Oceans Aquarium“. We had a great time filming it and we shot on a day when there was a school outing, which lent itself well to some lovely shots of the school tours. Enjoy their video profile and if you’re coming to South Africa any time soon, check out their website.

Groot Constantia

Ok so one of my favourite wine farms of all time is “Groot Constantia Wine Estate“. It’s located in the Constantia Valley in Cape Town, South Africa. I like it so much that I requested it when I shot my Top Billing interview with Janez. – click HERE to read more about that interview and HERE to see the photos from it. What a pleasure shooting Groot Constantia’s official video profile for Skybok. Here’s putting in a word for Grant Newton, its Marketing Director – absolute legend. The entire estate is a national heritage site and fully operational wine farm. The shoot was smooth and the weather was perfect. Did you know that it’s one of Cape Town’s “Big 6″? – Fellow members are Table Mountain, The V&A Waterfront, Robben Island, Kirstenbosch Gardens and Cape Point. It’s won over 36 gold medals over the last 10 years in various wine excellence competitions… Now that’s impressive! Great place to have a function. Watch their video and see what all the fuss is about! For more photos Skybok took on the day, click HERE.

The Artscape

The Artscape Theatre Centre in Cape Town, South Africa, belongs to the provincial administration and was opened on 19 May 1971 as the “Nico Malan Theatre Centre”. It was renamed to “Artscape” in March 2001. Shooting their official video profile for Skybok was an honour! You can see it on their website here. I personally love the Artscape and I try go see as many shows as possible there. – Not to mention that I love meeting all these fantastic people behind-the-scenes who are involved in keeping everything running smoothly! Editing for hours on end and recording all the voice overs becomes so worthwhile when the final product in done and I watch the profile of whatever venue I am busy with… whether it’s a wine farm, golf estate, nightclub, restaurant, coffee shop, hotel, school, resort or this – a theatre, as well as a point of interest, thanks to it’s huge role in the history of the Western Cape. A big smile spreads across my face when I know I’ve done a venue justice. One of those instances was when I completed The Artscape. Thank you to everyone there for being professional, efficient and co-operative as we all collaborated to make this happen.

Skybok Doubell Machines South AfricaWe shot this video profile of Doubell Machines during a gorgeous, sunny day! They are located on the corner of Albany & Frederick Roads in North End, Port Elizabeth, South Africa. We managed to capture the real essence of the factory and some of the work that’s done there on a daily basis. I love how the reds and blues pop in this video, especially against the white of the showroom. We filmed this on a CANON 5D MK2 and the quality of some of the shots which show the welding and cutting are just sublime. I never thought I’d get so excited by filming brick-making machinery!

Doubell Machines & Equipment are the manufacturers & exporters of brick-making & block-making machinery as well as allied equipment. For many years now, Doubell Machines have been prominent & an integral part of South Africa in the helping of community upliftment & social improvement by empowering disadvantaged people to empower themselves.

Mangiamo

Wickerwood Walmer Port Elizabeth South AfricaIn the heart of 6th avenue Walmer, Port Elizabeth, South Africa, lies a popular restaurant on the PE scene, “Mangiamo”. They are probably most well-known for their pizzas which have gourmet toppings like carpaccio and preserved fig on delicate, crispy-edged bases. Pasta is hand-made using Tipo 00 flour. Bringing the crowds in is chef/owner and committed foodie Joel Malkinson. I certainly wasn’t disappointed with my delicious pizza the night we shot – which went down well with a wine from a list of over 50 that can be ordered by the glass! The sumptuous shabby-chic décor by Joel’s wife, Dee-Anne, is the perfect fit for this stately old Walmer home. We had so much fun filming this on a very festive evening, enjoy!
