Located along Jan van Riebeeck Road, Val de Vie Winelands Lifestyle Estate is located in Paarl just outside Cape Town. Known for their wines, equestrian facilities, polo club, health club and elegant properties, this is a very popular estate about 40 minutes outside of Cape Town. They host many events at the clubhouse and are also famous for having former Olympic swimming champion Ryk Neethling as their marketing director & coach at the swim school.

We recently shot the video profile for Skybok of Vrede en Lust Wine Farm in Franschhoek, about an hour’s drive from Cape Town.

What a pleasure!

I’m a huge fan of their wine and this is honestly one of the most beautiful wine farms I’ve seen.

They have certainly left a lasting impression!

I actually purchased their flagship wine, The Boet Erasmus 2009, at the Good Food and Wine Fest in Cape Town – see my article on it by clicking HERE.

The history of Vrede en Lust is a story of passion, vision and resurrection, which goes as far back as 1688, when Flemish merchant Jacques de Savoye arrived at the Cape with the French Huguenots.

Absolutely love their accommodation – nice place to go for a romantic weekend away!

Am I giving you some good ideas? ;)

Take a watch of their video and see what all the fuss is about!

Warwick Wine Estate

‘Breath-taking’ took on a whole new meaning for me  recently when I arrived at a secluded spot on a mountain top overlooking Stellenbosch vineyards.

Here in South Africa we are very well-known for our gorgeous wine regions, specifically those in the Western Cape (where I live).

Tourists flock from miles around to tour the famous Stellenbosch wine route- the first and oldest wine route in the heart of the wine producing regions! The route takes you along several winding country roads and patrons stop over at various wine estates along the way. The route represents over 300 wineries. There are a number of sub-routes to make it easier for people to travel it. They are the Bottelary Hills, Devon Valley Vintners, Helderberg and Simonsberg-Stellenbosch. The idea is that people stop off at various estates along the route and enjoy wine tasting, cellar tours, picnicking on the lawns and perhaps a lunch at what is bound to be an award-winning restaurant on the estate.

While shooting a video profile for one of the estates – Warwick Wine Estate- we were given a complimentary gourmet picnic basket and a drive in a 4×4 up a vine-covered hill.

While driving up, all I could see were fields of vineyards stretched before me and stunning views.

It was a perfect experience.

If you don’t already, I recommend that you do more of this kind of excursion – nothing beats a chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc and a killer view!

Simonsig Wine Estate

Skybok filmed the video profile for Simonsig Wine Estate in Stellenbosch, South Africa.

Simonsig is located in the heart of the Stellenbosch wine region. Travelling there to film was such a pleasure.

We got a beautiful view of the Simonsberg Mountain (after which the wine estate is named), not to mention some even more lovely shots around the estate itself. They are the only wine estate with a working wine cellar, and it was fascinating watching this process!
