The Rotary Family Health Days 2015 will be held in the heart of Zwide Township at Ubuntu. It was incredible to hear Bill Clintontravelled there last year. It’s the home of the Ubuntu Education Fund. The RFHD are 3 days of free health care for the community. Skybok shot and produced the Algoa Bay Rotary Club’s video profile recently, as well as their soup kitchen for Madiba Day at Provincial Hospital.
Skybok recently profiled a soup kitchen project which Rotary spearheaded along with the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University‘s Law Faculty Ubuntu Community Outreach Programme. This year for Madiba Day, The Rotary Club of Algoa Bay gave back for 67 minutes – 1 minute for every year Nelson Mandela worked to make the world a better place – at The Provincial Hospital. The hospital is in Port Elizabeth, Nelson Mandela Bay, South Africa. In honour of his birthday, the call was out for people everywhere to give 67 minutes of their time to help their community in some way. Everyone has the power to change the world. The United Nations declared 18 July as “Nelson Mandela International Day” in 2009.
I was honoured to receive an award at this year’s Business Women’s Association of South Africa’s Regional Business Achiever Awards. Held at The Crystal Towers in Cape Town, I was thrilled to receive this recognition of distinction in business as an entrepreneur in the film industry! Skybok is all about connecting the world. I look forward to our exciting future doing so. I am very blessed that I was able to turn something I am passionate about into a profitable venture. It’s exciting to have been named in amidst such successful women across the region in all industries. I am proudly South African and marvel each day at our beautiful country and our people. Thank you, BWA! More photos from the event here.
The most beautiful garden in Africa, Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden is acclaimed as one of the great botanic gardens of the world. Visit their website here.
This is Cape Town’s tourist gem, and it’s at the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. It’s called “The Two Oceans Aquarium“. We had a great time filming it and we shot on a day when there was a school outing, which lent itself well to some lovely shots of the school tours. Enjoy their video profile and if you’re coming to South Africa any time soon, check out their website.
Located along Victoria Road in trendy Camps Bay, Cape Town, lies perhaps one of the most famous beach bars in the city. “Café Caprice” is a stunning spot along the beachfront if you want a drink or meal with friends and colleagues.
Caprice has become a landmark establishment on the famous Camps Bay Stretch in Cape Town – a great venue to host any function you have in mind.
(Be warned, Sunday nights get very busy!) Tourists from around the globe rub shoulders with the regular local clientele, all enjoying the gorgeous beach backdrop whilst sipping on eye-catching cocktails and listening to sexy, chilled beats spun by the resident DJ’s as the sun goes down.
The ultimate beach bar and café on Cape Town’s famous Camps Bay stretch, it’s home to a cosmopolitan crowd of locals and internationals 7 days a week.
We were thrilled to shoot their video profile, and filmed it on a very festive, sunny Summer afternoon. Enjoy!
I’ve always had a thing for animals. Especially wild, endangered or hurt ones.
Along the coast in Port Elizabeth, South Africa, lies the “South African Marine Bird Rehabilitation and Education Centre”. It’s also known as SAMREC.
We shot their video profile for them and I just remember thinking what a beautiful home and haven the team at SAMREC has created for these birds they find washed up and hurt on PE’s beaches.
The centre’s purpose isn’t just to rescue and rehabilitate, but to also inform and educate the public through their different programs.Tour our marine rehab and education centre and experience nature through sight, sound and touch.
